Mohegan Lake Day July 15th, 2012 Schedule
Please note this schedule is subject to minor tweaking; please stay tuned.
A water taxi, identifiable by a hand-sewn flag--details on the color/design of the flag will be forthcoming--will be servicing the celebration, providing transit from beach to beach, from 1pm to 7pm.
Mohegan Highlands Property Owners Association Beach
1:00pm
Turtle Talk by "New York State Class I Licensed Wildlife Rehabilitator and specialize in native turtles," Patricia Johnson. As locals know, there is a robust turtle population in, and around, Mohegan Lake. Join us for Ms. Johnson's presentation, refreshments and--possibly--another presentation from a science-fair-award-winning local student on a related subject.
Section 1 Beach
2:30pm
A demonstration of the Mohegan Lake weed harvester. I misplaced my videos of the harvester in action (I swear I have a couple), but you can see one like ours in action below [note: ours is cooler and has a better paint job]. This may be accompanied by a talk on the fish of Mohegan Lake with tips on how to catch--and release--them.
Section 1 Beach
3:00pm
BOAT RACES!
More details will follow, but be aware that each class of racing vessels will have singles and doubles categories with single and double paddle subcategories--or something like that. Note: register 30mins prior to the race; more importantly--you must wear a life-jacket.
3pm Canoes
3:30 Rowboats
4 Kayaks
4:30 Sailboats
Mohegan Colony Beach
6:30pm
Potluck dinner. We will coordinate a proper list of items people are bringing so you can gauge what you want to bring. In the meantime, fee free to chime in in the comment section at the bottom of this post.
7:00
Live Music.
8:00
A family friendly movie projected on to the handball court.

Mohegan Lake Day: Sunday, July 15th, 2012
Festivities will kick off on the Mohegan Highlands beach at 1pm sharp. We have a full day of activities planned at all the active Mohegan Lake beach communities, including boat races, live music and an outdoor movie night--to name a few things. We are firming up details in this Sunday, so stay tuned. In the meantime, here's a video of a fun party we had last year. It wasn't technically a lake day activity, but you get the idea: Mohegan Lake Day is a super fun time, for the whole family.
